Chocolate Porn - Shoo’s Blog of the Week

Reviews, Websites / Blogs

by shoo

Shoo's blog of the week the really practical marketing companyWell it’s that time again for me to choose my Blog of the Week.

I wanted to pick a site that you would love, a site you would drool over, a site you couldn’t help but go back to again and again even though you knew it was wrong.

Eventually I found this site that I adore. And even though I hardly know what a cooker looks like, I have tried and tested some of these delicious recipes. That’s how committed I am to bringing you great new sites every week.

Anyway, it’s a great site, but I’m warning you now
- it’s not for the faint hearted.

It’s so bad you’ll love it Chocolate Chipped

Enjoy, let me know what you think..

Greenpeace blast Dove in new video

Differentiation / Positioning, Online Marketing, PR / Media

by shoo

I just came across this new video from Greenpeace which is part of their campaign targeting the makers of Dove soap.

To make Dove soap palm oil is needed and Dove are buying this by-product off companies that are wrecking Indonesia’s rainforests.

The video is an interesting back lash against Dove’s socially and environmentally conscious image. Dove probably aren’t the worst offenders by far - but we see Dove’s image as beautiful, full of “moisturizing lotion, that won’t dry your skin”.

Unfortunately for Dove, when the image a brand portrays doesn’t match the reality, they set themselves up for a fall.

It’s worth a look…

Thunderbird on drugs shocker!

Advertising, Word-of-mouth / Buzz

by Mark Nagurski

I saw this ad, featuring Brains from the Thunderbirds on TV last night and thought it was worth a share. The ad, for Britvic water brand Drench, features the iconic character dancing to the 90’s ‘classic’ Rhythm is a Dancer - and looking like there was more than water in that plastic bottle.

I suppose I could talk about it being a good example of a viral ad (100k+ views on YouTube in various spots, blog posts and websites) but to be honest it’s just funny.

That’s not to say Britvic didn’t intend it to be viral - the slick website complete with links for bloggers (see screenshot) is designed to do just that.

Britvic Drench advertisement with Brains

What are your thoughts on the ad? Blatant attempt by a major corporation to go viral or something worthy of sharing - or both?
